Construct two
inter-related projects simultaneously: (1) Renovate 1st floor
24-hour library facility for expanded technology usage including new
circulation desk, reserve, reference, student study facilities (2)
Develop new basement special collections facility for special
preservation treatment of rare books. |
Challenges: |
Both
facilities: Upgrade deficient building systems to support progressive
technologies used in modern research library facilities. Preservation
lab required special facilities for chemical treatment and chemical fume
hood containment in a building that had no lab support facilities.

Implementation: |
Provided new HVAC, sprinkler and electrical systems throughout including
all new network distribution,
ADA
compliant fire alarm and energy efficient RP1 fluorescent lighting.
Provided new dedicated stainless steel exhaust system up through
building to a new high dilution rooftop exhaust system. Laboratory
plumbing upgrades included point-of-use acid waste neutralization
treatment system. |
